Collective Singularity

Collective Singularity

description

One time I was walking along the highway and saw a whole lineup of freshly cut down trees, laying on the side, like dead bodies. That scenery was so deeply touching to me. These long, old, trees, older that me, older that this city, and possibly then this country as we know it… Now are dead. Just because someone decided that. I went to the workers and asked them what they were told to do with the wood. They said its just going to garbage. I cannot believe that we still don’t have a system of using the wood in so many situations when its being thrown away. We pay money for deforestation, and throw away so much wood for no reason. I asked them to cut me slices of that wood, as much as I could possibly fit in the house. They did that and helped me deliver it home. That was the beginning of relief wood carving for me. This piece is made with that wood.
