"Exodus" - From the Earth
My new series, ”Exodus”, examines the frailty of the human condition in subject and form. Anthropomorphic photographs of tree roots, specifically cypress knees, form the underpinning for drawings of human forms both isolated and vulnerable. Delving deep within the image, I encourage figures reveal themselves. Forms emerge from the earth, deeply rooted past struggles and growth. These universal struggles can be personal, social or political, reflecting the challenges we face globally, Belonging and sanctuary is humanity and environment working in harmony. Preservation and awareness of our precious environment is essential. We are all one race, equally vulnerable and must stand together to find place and comfort during these uncertain times.
