description

Floating World Accordion Sculpture, approx. 25 in. x 3 in. (when unfolded), Mixed media on paper & wood w/ figurines. ©2013-2021. One unique, original work + Limited Edition of 10 hand-embellished versions Original work in Private Collection (Washington, DC). Editions in the Schomburg Center (NYC), Various Private Collections, & Collection of the Artist The origami & accordion sculptures feature organic, abstract, and dreamlike imagery meticulously folded into sculptural forms that encourage viewer participation. Typically displayed on mirrored plinths, ever-changing reflections reveal multiple perspectives while encouraging viewers to play with the many possible display configurations. While each work is a self-contained “micro-sculpture”, small figurines also indicate the artist’s ultimate vision to transform these works into large-scale public sculptures & pavilions. This artwork & many from this series have been featured in numerous international exhibits including both the 2013 + 2019 Mykonos Biennale in Greece, LongHouse Reserve (Long Island, NY), Wave Hill (NYC), iSolAIR (Cape Verde Islands, Africa) & AHM Gallery (Taipei, Taiwan), in addition to institutional collections such as the Schomburg Center (NYC) and the William Lim Living Collection (Hong Kong, China). A selection of these sculptures will also be showcased in a forthcoming hardcover book by Jean-Charles Trebbi dedicated to origami art books, to be published by Les Editions Alternatives in Paris.
