Haus of dust

description

In residency with the Loisaida Center and The Laundromat Project, Haus of Dust is a campaign which exists to support and educate Queer Latinx communities struggling with drug abuse. We will be working with a vast group of social workers, neuroscientists, and queer community leaders from our partnerships to activate this campaign through three central objectives: - An online platform to provide resources, data, and personal stories to engage participants and de-stigmatize conversations surrounding drug abuse in the community, this will be done through a creative game for anxiety relief and stress relief, created with The National Institute on Drug abuse - A garden to be built inside of Loisaida where we will host a variety of outreach functions and provide a therapeutic and educational greenspace, where we will utilize gardening as an activity for alternative recovery and qualitative research with the LGBT Center -A virtual and onsite immersive theatrical experience that explores drug addiction and trauma through a Queer Latinx lens, from Gabriel's personal experience as a substance user. We believe this project is arriving at a crucial time, as COVID-19 has presented unique challenges for those struggling with substance abuse. This project is aimed to be successful in creating an outreach that not only addresses the problems we face with COVID, but also combats them.
