Leap of Fate

Leap of Fate

description

55" x 19" x 17" This original, handmade sculpture was created by carving a dead, spalted Maple Taproot to form the body, and then adding a piece of Found Driftwood and a Spring to represent the head and neck. The shape of the taproot inspired the sculpture, which was created in a sustainable manner, using only hand tools, including: adzes, axes, chisels, and rasps (NO power tools). This human-sized piece is both made from trees and embodies the mythical woodland spirit who draws us into the forest.
