Man-Shield

Man-Shield

description

This series of life size urban and nomadic figures made out of sewn trash bags are inspired by photographs taken on the street and blended with found images and imaginary characters. The figures and their body presence fuse with their environment and blend with the objects they carry and surround themselves with. I capture their impermanent urban migrations by utilizing the ephemeral materials with which they engage on a daily basis. When silhouetted, the figures turn into ancient characters, loose protagonists of a familiar myth or tale.
