description
“Nature in Absentia” is about presenting the viewer with a visual interpretation of what Rachel Carson coined in her seminal book “Silent Spring.” Ideally hung away from the wall, this double sided series of handmade paper works represents how invasive species are pushing out local native plants, which disrupt delicate eco systems. Made from pulped invasive phragmites reeds, one side exhibits handmade paper cast in the shape of native cattails while the other side reveals an empty void where the cattails have been removed.
